Surface tools are incredibly important in automotive work. Zbrush is not useful for anything other than a concept sketch. It's built from the ground up for automotive modelling.

It's important to remember that while zbrush is incredibly powerful and very good at what it does, it's also totally arse-backward in a lot of ways. I'd create whatever surfaces I know I need at the correct scale, import to Zb, sculpt fiddly parts, decimate, export, check scale, add pins ribs or join points, export for print.etc. Personally I use Rhino, because it's very fast and flexible, and while it's not a parametric modeller like solidworks, I've been using it for so long, I'm quick at it. You need to generate an activation file to unlock ZBrush.

Register or log in, if you have an account. Grathanic is correct, in my opinion, to suggest you start with a proper surface modelling tool. Navigate to the trial version on the Pixologic Site. This is totally fine for some things but, for anything involving tolerances, it's useless. ZBrush comes with many default hotkeys and mouse actions. They can speed up your workflow by allowing you to focus on your sculpting or painting, rather than constantly searching for an interface button. If you're not working to a clients specification/tastes, that's fine cause you only have to please yourself but, spend 60 hours on a model, then get told to make fine, accurate adjustments. Shortcuts or Hotkeys are keyboard combinations that produce the same effect as pressing a ZBrush interface item. You can't create something as simple as a chamfered edge with any accuracy.

As a professional model maker, zbrush is good for some things but, it has limitations, the second you want to start using it for prototyping.
